Recovery

Lost or Forgotten TIN

Multiple ways to recover your BIR Tax Identification Number — from checking old documents to visiting your RDO.

Never apply for a new TIN. If you already have a TIN, getting a second one is illegal under the NIRC and can result in penalties. Always recover your existing TIN through the methods below.

Where to Look First

Check Your BIR Documents

Your TIN is printed on your BIR Certificate of Registration (Form 2303), Income Tax Returns (ITR), official receipts, and any other BIR-issued documents.

Ask Your Employer's HR

If you are or were employed, your HR or payroll department has your TIN on file. It also appears on your payslips, 2316 (BIR Certificate of Compensation), and 2307 forms.

BIR ORUS TIN Verification

The BIR's official ORUS portal (orus.bir.gov.ph/search/tinverification) lets you verify your TIN online. You will need to provide your personal details to look it up.

Call the BIR Hotline

Contact the BIR Contact Center at 8538-3200 (local) during office hours. Have your full name and birthdate ready for identity verification.

Visit Your RDO

Go to the Revenue District Office where you registered. Bring a valid government ID. The RDO can look up your TIN and issue a replacement TIN card.

Getting a Replacement TIN Card

If you have lost your physical TIN card, you can request a replacement from your RDO:

  1. 1

Go to the RDO where your TIN is registered.

  2. 2

Fill out BIR Form 1905 (Application for Registration Information Update).

  3. 3

    Attach a valid government-issued ID.

  4. 4

The RDO will issue a new TIN card, usually within a few days.

Replacement TIN cards are free of charge.

What If You Don't Know Your RDO?

If you don't know which RDO your TIN is registered under, the BIR TIN Inquiry service or your RDO visit will reveal this. You can also check bir.gov.ph for the list of all RDOs and their coverage areas.
